Muscle Cars: How To Rebuild And Modify Your Muscle Car

After the World War II, muscle cars became an instant hit, as motorists and car buyers aimed to acquire vehicles that would showcase and show great power and speed. The term was basically a name description of what the car was to the industry.

Muscle cars were considered the instruments to bring back the glory and profitability of the global car industry. Muscle autos were hugely popular in the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia.

With the emergence of many other car brands and more superior car models, muscle cars are now nowhere in the map of global cars. However, there are still some of those vehicles that are in circulation within the market.

Those muscle autos are now considered novelty and collectors' items. If you happen to own one, it surely would be your interest to improve and revitalize the look and performance of your old car. Thus, you would certainly find ways on how you can rebuild and modify your muscle auto.

Here are some suggested procedures on how you can rebuild and revitalize the look and feel of your muscle autos. Take note that some auto detailing techniques may already be familiar to you, especially if you are into regular auto detailing.

1. Plan the restoration process ahead of time. Muscle cars are important and are sensitive cars. Any error or mistake on the rebuilding and auto detailing procedure could greatly harm and alter the overall appearance of the exterior of the car.

Thus, it would be advisable if you would do a research and ask experts on what to do right about your muscle auto. Make a simple list of things to do and do a checklist to serve as a guide as you do the rebuilding and modifying process.

2. Spend time and more effort rebuilding the body of the muscle cars. Pay particular attention to details. The overall body of the car should be given more care and proper treatment. Do you need to modify and do little changes at the engine and the overall system?

If you are not too familiar with it, just leave it to the experts. Just tell them what you want, what you aim and what you intend to do and let them do the rest.

3. Settle to do a major auto detailing. When the insides of the muscle autos are modified and improved, take time to do a major auto detailing process.

When you auto detail muscle cars, you aim to revamp and overhaul the total exterior and physical package of the vehicles. Repaint. Spend to repair damaged parts. Check the wheels. In no time, the muscle autos would look as awesome as new again.

4. To wrap things up, check the overall electrical system of the muscle autos. Pay attention to the electrical wirings responsible for the proper functioning of lights and horns. Make sure the battery is functioning well.

5. There is no need to change the overall physical appearance or the assembly of the body packaging, not unless you want to remodel your muscle autos. If you do so, your muscle cars would cease to be muscle cars and should be called through other names.

As your muscle cars take a new rejuvenation and look, always remember that muscle cars would not ever function like the modern powerful cars. During their time, muscle autos were the most powerful vehicles on the road.

Car Seats For Your Baby And Toddler

Car accidents have been known to be one of the main causes of deaths among teenagers and most especially children. This is the reason why parents should take extra care in making sure that their children are safe when they are inside a vehicle, whether it may be moving or parked. With this need for car safety for children, car seats were invented and introduced.

Over the years, car seats have grown to be more popular as more and more parents have taken caution and have recognized their importance. There is however different types of car seats available in the market and each one correspond to a specific child age group or where some opine it is the weight of the child that gives the more decisive basis for getting a type of car seat. It is important that parents know this in order to get the right car seat that is appropriate for their babies and their toddler.

For babies, the parents should get a baby car seat that is rearward facing. This kind of car seat can hold room for babies that are aged from birth up to 12 or 15 months, whose weight can be as heavy as 10 kilograms or 22 pounds until 13 kilograms or 29 pounds. Babies are more out of harm's way if they are protected as they are facing the rear of the car and cosseted by the seat. With a rear facing car seat safely securing them in, they are cushioned from the bumps and jolts that the stirring car may go through. The seat shields and supports the head, the neck and the spine of the baby. It is preferred to place this rear facing car seats in the rear as compared to placing them in the front of the car. It is advised to never place the seat in front when the car has a passenger airbag as this could suffocate the child; hurting them instead of keeping them safe. It is recommended that you use rearward facing baby car seats for as long as your baby can fit on it. You will know your baby needs to move on to a bigger seat if her head is as high or even higher than the crown of the car seat or if her weight is or has already exceeded the maximum.

As your child outgrows his rear facing seat, you need now to get her a forward facing seat. This type of seat can hold a toddler of 9 to 18 kilograms or around 20 to 40 pounds, whose age could be between 9 months to 4 years old. The important factor with forward facing kid car seats is the harness that keeps the child safe in place. This should prevent the child from sliding off or bouncing in front out of the chair in case there is a collision or if dad accidentally puts on the brakes too hard. Just the same, it is favored that this seat be placed in the rear and to keep your toddler in such a seat until his age or his weight tells you to move on to the next level.

Uses For An Led Flashlight In Your Car

When you are navigating the roadways, it's important to remember that anything can happen to you and your vehicle at any time. Your vehicle could breakdown, you could get a flat tire, you could be in an accident or you may come across one. When any of these events happen to you, it helps if you are prepared. One of the ways that you can be prepared for any eventuality is to have an emergency kit in your vehicle. You can purchase them at a hardware or outdoors store - a compact emergency kit that fits nicely into your vehicle without being in the way. They usually contain candles, an emergency blanket, flares, road cones, waterproof matches, and a flashlight or emergency light source.

There are, of course, many uses for a flashlight or emergency light sources in your vehicle, especially if you are in a collision, have a flat tire, or if your vehicle breaks down. Where any light source will come in handy, most experts recommend having a LED flashlight or light source in your car because of they have a longer battery and bulb light than traditional flashlights, have a brighter, further-reaching light beam, and come in smaller, compact forms that are easier to carry in your car.

For a vehicle breakdown, a flashlight or emergency light source can help you:

* Flag down traffic for assistance

* Keep your vehicle visible if you have no working lights. You can use the flashlight to act as a taillight. This will allow oncoming traffic to see you and be able to get out of the way and avoid hitting you.

* Act as a flashing signal light - many of the emergency light sources have a flashing light on them as well that can act like hazard lights on your vehicle, once again alerting other drivers of your whereabouts.

* See what's wrong with your vehicle. If you have no power, you may be able to fix it yourself, but it's quite difficult to do on a dark road at night with no light. A flashlight or emergency light source can help you look into the problem with your vehicle and maybe even aid you in making the repairs.

* Help you fix a flat tire - while the flashlight won't be able to loosen those lug nuts for you, it can certainly shed some light on the situation. Also, because you will be crouching and sitting on the side of the road, other motorists may not see you. Having a flashlight or emergency light source will alert other drivers that you are also on the roadway and increase your safety while you are changing the tire.

In the event that you are in an accident, a flashlight can come in handy for many reasons. It can help to survey the damage of your vehicle or the other vehicle or vehicles involved in the collision. You can also use it to flag down other vehicles and warn them of your presence on the roadway. In some cases, you may also need to navigate uncertain terrain, such as a field, either to get to a collision scene to help, or escape from one. A flashlight can help light your path and avoid falling, tripping and other injuries that walking over uneven terrain could cause.

Flashlights and emergency light sources are very helpful for many reasons - and having one in your vehicle, that is reliable and works, is important. You never know when you're going to need a flashlight or emergency light source.

A guide to buying your first motorcycle

The thrill of riding a motorbike is a wonderful experience and unlike any other form of transport. If, like so many others, you are thinking of buying your first bike, a few simple steps can prevent you from buying something you’ll just want to trade in after a few months.

Being the first owner of a new bike can be a privilege, but one that comes at a price. Bikes depreciate a lot quicker than cars, and this is especially true with new bikes, losing at least 15% of their value as soon as you've ridden it out of the showroom. If you’re an inexperienced driver the drop in value in the first weeks is pretty high, significantly affecting the vehicle’s resale price. If you do choose to buy new, make sure you intend to keep it for a while in order to minimise the effects of the initial loss.

Most dealers will carry a range of second hand bikes or trade-ins for sale. These won’t be as cheap as the ones you can find from private sellers, but a reputable trader will ensure the bike isn’t stolen, allow you to test ride it without arranging your own insurance and offer a warranty or service package.

Private sellers will be able to provide you with a bargain, but this requires more effort and vigilance. If possible, arrange to view bikes you are interested in the same day you see it advertised. Most people won’t be able to view until the next day or even days later, giving you plenty of time to check the bike’s history and negotiate a price.

If you have friends or family who are knowledgeable about motorbikes, take them with you to curb your enthusiasm when needed. If you don’t, check if the bike is clean and tidy to gauge whether it’s been looked after. Ask the seller to show you the bike and explain the controls to show you how familiar they are with the bike, a good indicator of how well they’ve taken care of it.

Once you're satisfied that the motorcycle is in order, check the necessary paperwork, such as the MOT and V5 certificates, owner’s manual and the service book. You should also obtain a receipt of the sale, in case the owner should attempt to report it stolen afterwards and carry out a HPI check, to ensure that the bike isn't subject to any outstanding finance arrangement.

Regardless of your current credit rating, there are several motorcycle providers who can help to arrange bike finance, making it easier than ever to get that bike of your dreams. If you do decide to arrange finance for your new motorcycle, make sure you afford the repayments, as making payments on time can help build or even repair a good credit rating.

So with summer only a few months away, follow the aforementioned steps in order to experience the road the way only riding a motorbike can.

How To Avoid Rip-Offs At An Auto Repair Shop

It's certain that you're not a fan of taking your car to the mechanic to get it repaired. However, this is something that has to be done and it not only costs you time, but money as well. Not only that, in the back of your mind you're wondering if the mechanic is doing what needs to be done or if he's just out for money. There are some out there who will take you for a ride, no pun intended.

Before you take your vehicle in to a repair shop, get referrals and recommendations from others who have been there. They can tell you whether or not the service lived up to their expectations. Using word of mouth is the best form of advertisement. Usually people will be truthful with you about their experience, whether it was good or bad.

Take note of auto repairs shops that advertise cheap prices for things like oil changes and a freebie for a brake check. This is one way some mechanics will try to get over on you. They will purposely look for ways to find things they claim need to be repaired prior to you leaving the auto shop. Then, you'll end up paying additional money you were not expecting to dish out. It just goes to show you that "free" isn't really free without strings attached.

Know what kind of parts the mechanic is using on your vehicle. Find out what the markup is on them. Some auto shops swear by using the manufacturer's original parts for vehicles. They can still use parts that are not made by the manufacturer and still get the vehicle repaired. Parts that are not made by the manufacturer are cheaper, but the markup wouldn't be great for the mechanic.

The mechanic can charge you more by not using spare parts. This is how they make their money. You can always ask them about the markup just to get their response. There is no law against you asking and no law against him providing you with an answer. However, if you don't have a good feeling about it and you're not getting satisfactory answers, here are some additional things you can do to get more clarification:

* You can ask to see what work has been completed on your vehicle. Ask them to allow you to see what you were charged for. If you're paying for this, you have every right to know what's going on with your vehicle.

* Ask the mechanic to show you the old part(s). You can check it against the new part to make sure it's legitimate.

* Do a test with other mechanics in the auto repair shop. Take a peek and ask another person how they repaired other vehicles. They may think you're weird for asking, but it's your money and vehicle that you trust them with to repair properly.

If you still don't feel as though the mechanic performed up to snuff and overcharged you, ask more questions and even get management involved if need be. This is your vehicle and the last thing you need is someone trying to overcharge you for unnecessary work or parts.

The Anonymous Anonymity of The Hidden Water4Gas Revolution

I call for an explanation as to why is it that none of the current crop of candidates for president are beating the drum for the Hydrogen Economy? And for converting gasoline vehicle engines to hydrogen systems? Instead we hear about corny solutions like ethanol from some, receive empty promises by others (Clinton) and no one tells the truth. The auto companies tell us that hydrogen fueled engines are years down the road and will be very high ticket items when the technology is here right now and is way easier than the gasoline engines they are producing right now.

I don't buy that they are ignorant to it when I know how to do it. So it must be that they are keeping it hushed due to vested interested which own them (all candidates are indicted here) except for one who is already sticking his neck out so far in taking on the corporations and their evil agenda that he is already way too extended but would do so once they get elected (Dr Ron Paul has already started a revolution because he is confronting the military industrial complex and America's empire building and the unconstitutional privately owned central bank and it's destruction of the dollar and the Internal Revenue and it's illegal taxation. You can bet that once Dr Paul is inaugurated as our 44th president that he will be looking at all energy solutions as well).

And it isn't just the corporations and mass media that has been keeping us in the dark.

I hate to burst your bubble! But I will raise your tone back up towards the end of this article I promise! See,But I have been researching to find what my fellow netizens have been advising to people as regards solutions to increase fuel economy and it is just a pile of nonsense!

Such solutions as unload the junk from your automobile are just totally malarkey! I did the math and you end up saving at best $50/year!

Other solutions are simply contradictory or wrong... Some articles said don't use your AC which is not very helpful if you live in Florida or it is 100 degrees in the city! Then I found one article that suggests to keep the vehicle's windows open in the city streets but to keep your AC on while on the parkways because if you have the windows open while driving at high speeds adds drag which increases gas consumption. Who's right? Who's wrong? Who cares? Does it increase fuel economy? No, probably not!

The only genuine solution to increase your fuel economy, with gas prices in the $3-4.50 range during the last year or so is to disconnect your umbilical cord... the one that binds you to the gas pump and get free from your chains of slavery to the oil companies and....

Convert to a hydrogen engine! How would it be you never had to pump another gallon of gas again? Convert your gas engine to hydrogen. If you do a partial (hybrid) conversion then you can expect lowered gas consumption of up to 30% maybe more. If you do this and also add acetone to your gas tank (which will save you another 25% or so) then you will have increased your fuel economy by a combined 50%! Put in about 2-3 ounces of acetone per 10 gallons of gas and less gas will evaporate and you increase your fuel economy by 25% or more. If you do a full gas to hydrogen conversion then you will have pumped your last gallon of gas for the rest of your life. It is far easier than you might think, costs next to nothing, helps the environment and you will have the reward of knowing that you are conserving resources instead of using up more than your fair share.

Lowering Gasoline Consumption Using Gasoline Saving Additives

What effective action can you take that will get your vehicle burning the gas as cleanly as possible, with less soot and deposits left behind in the combustion chamber and on the valves, while cleaning the injection system, or in vehicles the carburetor, while not doing damage to emissions systems, not not violating the terms of your warranty, and, ultimately, getting you improved fuel economy and better engine life?

In recent tests it has been demonstrated that aromatic petroleum distillates, alcohol (methyl alcohol), ether, acetone, and toluene can and will do all of these. But don't go crazy with it. If you make the fuel mixture too rich do the opposite. The best found that was simplest to use in order to achieve and handle improved fuel economy was 1-2 ounces of acetone in a full 10 gallon tank

Pure acetone impedes evaporation rather than acting as a fuel additive. So acetone is not actually fuel. It does a lot with a little - very negligible amounts from about one-quarter of one percent to 1/3 of one percent. MPG starts to reduce at higher ratios. Acetone not only improves mileage but reduces pollution noticably and gives longer life to engines. The optimum ratio is approximately equivalent to 2 to 3 oz. per 10 gallons and this will increase MPG as much as 25percent or more. Your MPG will increase and vehicle's performance too. You can expect a smoother running engine to have better longevity by attaining better vaporization and MPG . Those teaspoons of Acetone reduce the amount of wasted gas to almost nil.

One warning - Acetone is PAINT REMOVER so please use a small stainless steel measuring cup and long funnel to protect your paint. Acetone should not be bought from drug stores. Their brands suck in a lot of places out there because they has been tainted with impurities . Good Acetone has that strong Acetone odor. Canadian acetone is usually the best. Go to a good paint supplies store . The other thing to realize is that Big Oil tries to prevent you from saving on gasoline and you may end up voiding your warranty as they sometimes check for gas additives like acetone.

Also, one last footnote, since adding acetone helps your engine run better and enables it to burn gasoline cleaner it is better for the environment - less emmissions.

Many other tips are just plain contradictory or wrong... Some articles advised don't use your airconditioner which is great if you are a resident of or it is 100 degrees in Manhattan! Then I found one article that recommends to keep your automobile windows open for city driving but to keep your AC on when you are on the freeways because if you have the windows open while driving above 55MPH adds drag which reduces gas mileage.

Who's right? Who's wrong? Who cares? Does it lower gas consumption? No, probably not! The most real solution to lower your gas consumption, with gasoline prices in the $3-4.50 range during the last year or so is to disconnect your umbilical cord... the one that connects you to the gasoline pump and drop your chains of slavery to the oil companies and....

Convert to a hydrogen engine! How would it be you never needed to purchase another gallon of gas again? Convert your gas engine to hydrogen. If you do a partial (hybrid) conversion then you can expect improved MPG of up to 30% maybe more. If you do this and also add acetone to your gas tank (which will save you another 25% or so) then you will have improved your MPG by a combined 50%! Put in about 2-3 ounces of acetone per 10 gallons of gas and the gas will evaporate less easily and you lower your gas consumption by 25% or more. If you do a full gas to hydrogen conversion then you will have pumped your last gallon of gas for the rest of your life. It is really quite easy, costs hardly anything, doesn't pollute the environment and you will have the satisfaction of knowing that you are conserving resources instead of using up more than your fair share.

How To Save Gas Running Your Car Or Truck On Water

Did you know it is possible to run your car on water on a totally safe and simple way? This technology has been available for more than 100 years, but many times big oil companies and laboratories have tried to hide and make it seem impossible.

There is one guy that has been over 10 years researching and putting into practice what he has learn in hundreds of manuals, book and reports secretly obtained. He has called this system "water for gas technology".

The method recommend for powering your car with water will save you cost of fuel and will allow you to make your own low-cost hybrid car that will run on water and gas, saving you huge costs you would have spent using only gas.

In other words, there is a very easy to make - Hydrogen-On-Demand system where you are able to run your car on Hydrogen when you need it.

Please take into account that I am not saying you should build a car from scratch that will run on water. This system I am talking about is about constructing simple devices that will enable your car to run on water as well as gas, at the same time. You don't have to alter your car make-up or get a new car. The technology I am talking about is very simple to make, and can work with almost any car or truck. It doesn't matter if the car or truck is diesel or runs on regular gas.

In simple words, this technology involves putting together home-made devices that use a little electricity out of your car's battery to separate water into a gas called HHO (2 Hydrogen + 1 Oxygen). HHO, also known as Brown's Gas or Hydroxy, burns beautifully and by so doing provides tons of energy.

But the most important thing and most remarkable beauty of this system is that this pound for pound HHO gas is even much more potent than gasoline. In fact 3 times more powerful than gasoline.

By using cars powered with this system, you are effectively saving a lot of money that would have been spent on fuel for your car. It is estimated that this could save you as much as $897.40 per year. If you are two, three or four drivers in the family, the yearly savings increases dramatically.

So, imagine if you are a company owner and you have a fleet of 50 drivers in your company... then your yearly savings will multiply to $44,870.

This system is totally safe and can be simply installed in any car or truck, by yourself. The creator of this system has had in installed in hundreds of other cars, and their drivers have already experienced thousands of dollars in gas cost savings, plus a better performance of the cars in all cases.

The whole water fuel system costs 60$, and the materials can be obtained in any hardware store, so you will be able to save lots of money in materials. This Hydrogen on demand system can be assembled at home easily during the weekend, just by following very simple directions.

Convert Your Car To Water/Gas & Save Money!

Convert your car to run on Water and save thousands of dollars every year Almost 100 years ago several great scientists such as Nikola Tesla realized that water is the cheapest and the most powerful source of energy; it is equally a renewable energy source Convert your car to run on Water and save thousands of dollars every year.

Almost 100 years ago several great scientists such as Nikola Tesla realized that water is the cheapest and the most powerful source of energy; it is equally a renewable energy source. Many Hydrogen powered systems have been developed but most of them were destroyed or simply never went into production for political and other unknown reasons.

Not long since FOX News broad casted a video report about an American car enthusiast who was able to replicate the system or maybe even "reinvent the wheel" - call it as you like but this driver was able to convert his car to run on water. While many drivers are quite skeptical about the whole idea - this particular driver and thousands of others across the Globe enjoy the increase of gas mileage they are able to get with this simple Hydrogen-on-demand system.

The most common reason for choosing this system is its cost. You could convert your car to run on water for under $200 when a Diesel powered automobile would usually cost over $20 000 and a hybrid car would run at $17 000 and more.

The Hydrogen-on-demand systems also gives your car a 15%-20% power boost ? something a hybrid car cannot offers, the engine?s noise is also reduced with this system. Just like an official hybrid car, a car with this system allows you to get the IRS refund ? even more money in your pocket.

When you convert your car to run on water ? you increase gas mileage of your car or truck by up to 100% - this means DOUBLE the gas mileage, in rare cases even a higher increase was reported. The increase of fuel economy is not the only beneficial factor of converting your car to run on water ? the system makes your engine run smoother and quieter which reduces the vibration giving you a smooth and easy shafting. Usual wear and tear of the engine and its parts is also reduced making your car?s engine longevity incredibly long.

It is a known fact that this system is very easy to install. You could purchase the step-by-step illustrated guide which will explain every little detail of the process and help you to convert your car to run on water. The 2 month full satisfaction money back guarantee gives you plenty of time to start working on this great project. It is not only easy to install but is also easy to remove. The system does not change a single thing in your engine?s physical appearance and it does not make any changes in your car?s computer settings ? simply unhook the tubes and cable ? and the passed presence of the system on your engine becomes completely untraceable.

The low cost, easy installation, renewable source of energy and great efficiency makes it the most promising fuel economy system on the planet. Gas prices are going up by the hour; unfortunately the number of bills in our wallets does not grow at the same paste.

Convert Your Car To Water/Gas System. Save Money & Increase Mileage

Increase Gas Mileage

I hope that the following article will help you to better understand this topic.

As we know most people are disruptive with the skyrocketing petrol prices. Many people want to get the best fuel consumption rate from their vehicles and rightly so. Virtually all of us have a fantasy of getting into a powerful car and drive hundreds of miles without having to stop often at petrol stations to fill gas in the car. Nevertheless, a good gas mileage is surly can be a reality. The only way to get the best car mileage is by pushing your car around where you want to go. However, there are a few things that can be done to get the best car fuel consumption rate out of your car.

When it comes to increasing the mileage of your car, the basic problem for you will be how you keep your car and how you drive. You must void drive when the place you want to go to is at a short length of your place. The first and the foremost proposition for increasing your car mileage is that you must walk or ride the bicycle as much as you can. If you have to do some work and you must use your car then you must concentrate on doing as much work as possible in one trip itself. There is absolutely no point in juggle your tasks in another trips. You must walk or ride the bicycle when the tasks are at a manageable distance. You can also use public transport services to get to your nearby destinations.

Another point is that you must not drive aggressively. This burns a deal of fuel. Instead, drive at a normal speed so that you can loosen up and delight the view while driving. Driving sharply resorts to the rapid acceleration, quick braking at over Hundred mph. when these things are avoided you can yourself feel the difference in the mileage of the car.

The 3rd and one of the most significant things that can be done for the improvement of fuel consumption rate of the car is that you must cut down the heavy items in your car that are unnecessary. You must keep down the weight unit of the car as much as possible. This helps in avoiding the wastage of the excess fuel that is used in the speed up of the vehicle. The heavy loads put extra and unneeded stress on your vehicle.

The 4th tip is to keep the tires of your car under proper pressure levels. You must on a regular basis check the air pressure of the tire. You must keep the pressure as the maker suggests in PSI. This will take out the stress off the engine of your car and facilitate effective speedup and the smooth cognitive operation of the vehicle. This method will Surely gain the mileage of your vehicle by over 5, the checking and replacement of clotted air filters can help you attain the average of your car by over Fifteen %.

Who's Afraid Of The Big Bad Lorry Driver? Facebook, Apparently.

I, like pretty much every man, woman, child, cat, dog and mouse in the country, am something of a Facebook addict. Sure, I can deny it - and always claim that time spent on it in the office is invaluable networking time (even when networking involves playing a rip off of Scrabble with old friends) - but there's something of a compulsive delight in spying on old acquaintances and seeing what they're up to. Then of course, there's the communities... so many improbably named Facebook groups with even more improbable numbers of members. Everything from 'The Drunken Text Message Appreciation Society' to 'A Cup of Tea Solves Everything'is represented, and more are springing up every day.

Naturally my career at a freight exchange means I have an above average interest in lorries and lorry drivers, so it stands to reason that one day this would collide with my other life-sapping obsessive interest - Facebook. I began looking through the various pages, and was more than a little surprised by the sheer quantity of groups devoted to expressing dislike and mockery towards trucking society. There are a few groups which particularly attracted my attention, including:

'Nothing angers me more than lorry drivers hogging the motorway!'

Personally, I can think of quite a few things that anger me more than lorry drivers hogging the motorway: famine, genocide, pizza menus through my door - and that's just off the top of my head! Regardless, 54 people have independently thought "Yes, lorries on the motorway is Number One in my list of annoyances," and fair play to them.

'"Lorry Baiting" appreciation society'

This one's just plain mean, and easily tops the 'lesser evil' of haulage vehicles hogging the motorway. For those not in the know, this involves cars travelling in front of lorries on the motorway a mile per hour slower than the lorry behind them, only to speed up a little when the lorry tries to overtake, forcing the lorry back behind. Cruel, unnecessary and ultimately dangerous - it currently has a membership of 54 but ultimately the danger involved in the 'sport' could see this number dropping.

54. Let's face it, this is a very dangerous "sport" and, personally I would prefer them to abandon their game rather than needing another kind of driver to take them to hospital.

'Lorry Drivers Suck'

Finally, there's the plain ol' "Lorry Drivers Suck' group. A title both simple and to the point, exactly like the group's membership of 29.

Amongst all the hateful anti-trucker groups (trust me, there are a few - some of which won't pass the editorial standards of article distribution websites (thanks to the liberal use of 'f', 'c' and 'b' words) there are occasionally touching groups - a personal favourite of mine (and with a massive 1381 members) expresses the disappointment that lorries consistently fail to live up to the expectation that they will transform into Optimus Prime from Transformers. Elsewhere is "Lorry Drivers have Rights Too" - a heart-warming call for equality diminished only by the sorry looking single member currently keeping the group warm.

I don't know what traumatic event happened in these Facebook group creators' childhoods to make them so vehemently anti-trucker - perhaps they had a nasty accident with a hub cap, or they were beaten up by an HGV - but I instantly felt a need to redress the balance somewhat. I created a Facebook group in praise of truckers, defending against a tirade of stereotypes. Join it if you want - "Just because I'm a Lorry Driver Doesn't Mean..." - I can't speak for everyone else, but I for one won't bite.

Diesel vs. Regular Gasoline: Which Is Better For The Environment?

With the implementation of alternative fuel sources on the minds of many, diesel is now under the microscope more than ever. Although diesel-powered vehicles have been around for a long time, gasoline is still the primary fuel source for most North American vehicles. Why has diesel not been used as a fuel source in more vehicles? Which is better for the environment? These are questions that are being asked more frequently as the search for alternative fuels is weighing heavily on more people's minds.

Gasoline vs. Diesel

It turns out that gasoline is more volatile than diesel, not because of what its base consists of, but because of the additives it contains. In addition, vehicles that use diesel tend to be more fuel-efficient and produce less greenhouse gasses. In that respect, diesel is more environmentally friendly. Diesel actually produces 15% more in greenhouse gasses than gasoline when compared by the litre rather than the gallon. Yet it is through the 20-40% improvement in fuel economy over gasoline that offsets the higher emissions per litre. In actuality, the carbon dioxide emissions are considerably less than gasoline, but diesel does contain 2,778 grams of carbon per gallon, whereas gasoline contains 2,421 grams per gallon. But, again, it is the fuel economy of diesel that accounts for the smaller rate of carbon emissions.

Then again, diesel fuel contains larger quantities of sulfur. The United States has what is considered to be the dirtiest diesel, but as of June 1, 2010 this is going to be different. U.S. diesel fuel has a lower measure of ignition quality. This means that when it is cold outside, ignition performance is poor and can result in higher emissions. This is why you see truck drivers idling their trucks all night long in cold weather rather than risk a troublesome start in the mornings.

But, the sulfur in the diesel that is emitted during cold ignitions and long engine idling is still harmful to the environment because the sulfurs prevent the control of diesel particulate emissions through diesel particulate filters. This is changing, though, since new advanced technologies such as nitrogen oxide absorbers are being developed to reduce these emissions.

As for gasoline, it is the non-aliphatic hydrocarbons as well as carcinogenic additives that avoid engine-knocking that threaten the public's health and the environment. This exposure happens in the case of gasoline leaks and then, of course, there are the carbon emissions we hear a lot about. Leaks occur when trucks begin leaking the gasoline they are carrying, storage containers are not stored properly, and from motor vehicle leakage. The harmful additives in gasoline can get into groundwater and contaminate public water supplies.

However, Dieselization is becoming a more common use of diesel as a fuel in motor vehicles, although it is determined that both diesel and gasoline have harmful effects on the environment. When we look at the carbon emissions of both, we find that diesel will emit more per gallon (or litre), but when you look at how much you have to fill the fuel tank with diesel versus how much you have to fill with gasoline, you will find that the percentage of emissions is offset for diesel, which can be friendlier on the pocketbook. On the other hand, sulfur is emitted by diesel and diesel does not perform as well in cold weather as gasoline, so until 2010 when diesel is cleaned up, gasoline may be slightly more environmentally friendly than diesel in respect to the emissions from automobiles. As for ground contamination, diesel has an edge over gasoline in keeping our world clean.

Fleet fuel cards are applicable for both gasoline and diesel engines. It's important take the environment into consideration when choosing a vehicle.

Integration Of Latest Car Alarm System

Latest Modernized Car Alarms Are Available In The Market:

A car alarm is an electronic devise that is installed in the vehicle to discourage theft. Car alarms can be triggered by a number of things for example vibrations, touching the car or opening of special switches on the door contacts. When triggered a car alarm will usually emit a high volume sound, the vehicles horn or a pre-recorded warning. Since people are so use to hearing car alarms being triggered accidentally usually by drunken people and animals, they do nothing to prevent theft.

As car alarm systems get louder and more numerous, more and more people are deciding that they’ve had enough. As is turns out, car alarm systems don’t even increase the odds that a car will not be stolen. Many cities have begun to go so far as considering making the car alarm an illegal device to own or manufacture and sell to others. New York City has recently had several bills proposed by various council members calling for the restriction of car alarm systems within the city.

Symbol of Style:

Many bills have been introduced whose main focus is to somehow reduce the annoyance that car alarm systems have become in many neighborhoods. Introduced in 2002 with nine co-sponsors, Luis car alarm bill would effectively ban the sale and installation of car alarms that are audible within New York City. Introduced with fifteen co-sponsors, Muscovites bill of April, 2002 goes further in proposing a mechanism by which citizens could report annoying alarms to the police. This, in turn, would produce a warning letter that is sent to the owner of the offending car alarm.

The problem of car alarm systems has become such a large concern that Muscovite and fellow councilmember John Liu have sponsored multiple bills that promise to fix the car alarm systems problem in New York City and the surrounding areas suffering from this noise pollution problem. Though some question the feasibility of making car alarm systems illegal, many people seem to agree that the time for some sort of solution being necessary.

Outcome Of Survey Report:

Studies done by unbiased car insurance companies who wish to conduct objective scientific research to determine the effectiveness of car alarms showed that car alarms do nothing to stop car theft. Car alarm systems just plain dont make your car any less likely to become stolen or broken into.

As statistics seem to show over and over again, car alarms simply dont prevent vehicle theft. In cases such as theft, criminals are going to steal the car regardless of whether or not it has an alarm system installed. There are many ways to make your car less attractive. It is widely agreed that the best way to keep your car safe is to make it as inaccessible or unattractive to a would be thief because of the extreme lengths that he or she would have to go through in order to get to your car. One of the simplest ways to do this is to make your car the one that doesn’t stand out form all the other cars.

Five Economic Ways To Save Gas For Your Vehicle

No matter what kind of vehicle you drive, you can probably make a way to save some gas. This can help with the mileage on your vehicle and dampen the reality of gas prices when they increase. Using more than one of these tips can help increase your gas mileage significantly.

Take It Easy And Slow Down

The more you accelerate, the more gas you use. Ten or more miles over will cause you to use more gas. To save gas, you should drive at the speed limit. You'll be using less gas that can be used for future trips. If people think you're going too slow driving the speed limit, let them pass you up. Make sure your driving on the right side of the road, which is considered the slow lane.

Be Careful How You Accelerate

You waste gas when you engage in a start-stop acceleration mode. If you're on the road and you can see vehicles slowing ahead of you, then start slowing down. It's not good to accelerate and have to brake suddenly. You can lose of lot of gas this way.

With manual transmission vehicles, the driver should shift in the beginning of the trip to dampen the engine noise. Go ahead and shift downward if you have to accelerate. With automatic transmission vehicles, accelerate wisely. This way, the transmission will change to higher gears.

Your Tire Pressure

You can lose gas if your tires are not inflated properly. You should check your tires periodically with a tire gauge. On cold days, check your tires. Since there are different tires for different vehicles, refer to your vehicle's manual for further instructions.

Air Filter

Your vehicle should have a clean air filter. This helps with the gas mileage for your vehicle. If your air filter is dirty, the engine's air flow is inadequate. The result is that the vehicle's performance will not be up to par.

Changing an air filter in your vehicle is simple. Take the filter out of the vehicle and line it up against the sun. If there is no light coming through it, it's time for a new one. If you're still not sure about your air filter, take it to a reliable mechanic or auto supply store. It is recommended that air filters be changed every 10,000 - 12,000 miles.

Lay Off The Air Conditioner

During the summer months, (depending on where you live), it can get very hot. When you're driving, the first thing you want to do is turn on the air conditioner. Utilizing the air conditioner sucks up gas quickly. You can save more gas by letting the windows down and catching a breeze. Even when it's really hot, you can still manage to get something. If you have a sunroof, you can open that too. However, if you just have to have some type of cold blast hitting you, keep the air conditioner at a lower speed and you can still save some gas.

Try one or more of these tips and within a matter of time, you'll notice a difference.

Visions Of A Better World And Alternative Fuel Solutions

If I was the law....

"Politics" would be outlawed (then only outlaws would be politicians! lol), just statistics. And the folks that can get things done would be the leaders and the individuals who weren't very effective would be working at the car wash and at McDonald's (except there would be no deadly fast foods from corrupt corporations to make our kids into obese diabetics at the age of 7).

Anyone who was needy would have a chance to work that they can live on... the healthy but unskilled could do manual work but with humane hours, food and shelter. Those that are not in good physical condition would have the opportunity to exchange whatever they can... tutor kids, whatever...in order for survival. No giving to people who don't exchange but the opportunity to share what one can do in return for the essentials to live on, including privacy and recreation and enhancement. The number of individuals who have nothing to give is a very small number.

The arts would be flourishing. True artists with inspirational messages or who inspire by the quality of their talent would be the real spiritual leaders and inspire all to great achievements.

All government would be local. There would be no wars without national governments. When was the last time that Tampa and St Petersburg, Florida fought a war? The smaller the geographical zone of control the more survival oriented that government is inclined to be. Forget about global government. Our survival is in the opposite direction.

Health solutions would be based on what practices enhance health, not on what makes the most money. This would be a huge change.

Each and every person would have the right to think and speak freely. Anyone determined to be abusing this right would have the opportunity for redemption by doing something to make up the damage such as community service or help on construction projects. I look forward to seeing Hannity and O'Reilly putting in a good day of hard work!

Prizes such as the Nobel prize would go to bona fide humanitarian works not to military people and liars.

Food would not be cloned and genetically modified but we would be growing crops in accordance with the most optimum methods for the ecology and retaining the nutritional content of crops and livestock.

Our vehicles would run on water instead of gasoline and the air would be clean and energy would be free and corrupt corporations could not rake in billions because their oil would not be needed.

OK, let's look at Earth now. Pop quiz... I know, I didn't tell you there would be a pop quiz... that's how come it is a pop quiz! Ready?... Which one of these visionary concepts from this fine morning is already here?

Bingo! The convert gasoline engine to water one! Folks, we have so much to do to make the culture more honest, fair and peaceful. But where solutions exist we need to use them. And the hydrogen car engine based on water is here now and it is inexpensive to make the conversion and will help protect the environment and you can take this step towards a happier world right now.

Oil Woes

Ever hear of anybody not griping about the price of gas at the pumps? No, I don't think so. But how many people really understand the dimension of the problem? You hear them talking about the "greedy oil companies" making outlandish profits off the sale of gasoline. Whether this is true or not it is really not the main cause of the dilemma. Let's examine what is actually going on in this game and see where it might be going.

Everyone knows we Americans are entirely too reliant on petroleum. I would go so far as to say we are addicted to it. Most of the oil comes from the Middle East and other places we would consider to be unstable in more ways than one. This dependency leads us into many poor choices. And yet we persist on this path.

Every minute Americans spend $200,000 ($13 million/hour, $390 million/day, $25 billion/year) on Middle Eastern oil. OPEC (the oil producing countries) is expected to make over $300 billion in oil sales by the end of the year. Without change the future holds more of the same. The Middle East countries hold two-thirds of the world's oil reserves. By 2025 OPEC (the Middle East oil producing countries), as a whole, will produce 46% of the world's oil. In that same year the United States is projected to consume 28.3 million barrels a day-44% more oil than we do today.

Why do we consume so much oil? Despite improvements in auto technology, fuel economy is lower today than in the mid-1980s. There are 200 million cars in America. Light trucks, including SUVs (the proverbial gas guzzlers) account for 50 per cent of the passenger vehicle market. Even without any new technology that might come along, safe, comfortable, and affordable cars could get 50 miles per gallon or more, but the Congressional lobbyists for the auto and oil companies stifle any legislation mandating such economies. Five percent of our electric energy is produced by oil and 8 percent of households are heated by oil. Many more are fueled by natural gas (electricity plants also), much of which is being imported from the Middle East.

We consume an increasing amount of oil while our domestic production decreases. Domestic production reached its peak in 1972 and has been falling ever since. Even new domestic finds of oil reserves, like the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, would yield less than a six months' supply. Renewable energy consumption actually declined during the Bush administration, despite skyrocketing prices for conventional fuels.

Why does this insanity continue? First of all, the United States has no energy policy to wean us off petroleum use. The oil and utility companies won't allow consumer relief legislation to get through Congress. They spend millions of dollars to get legislation passed that is immensely favorable to their companies. Between 2000 and 2004, the oil and gas industry poured more than $75 million into political campaigns, mostly for Republican Party candidates. The small renewable energy companies are smothered by oppressive legislation orchestrated by the big oil and gas companies. They can't get a foothold in the market to be able to expand and make the hardware and services cheaper to the public. And one of the biggest reasons for it all to continue is that we, "as Americans", believe we have a right to the world's oil and gas reserves.

Until we have a change in our mindset in this country about our place in the scheme of things and our responsibilities to the rest of the world to share resources equitably there will be unrest and wars over oil and greedy CEOs in big oil and gas companies bilking the public out of billions of dollars. So, there really isn't any use in griping about the whole situation unless you are prepared to stand up and demand change. Only if the entire public refuses to take no for an answer will the problem be solved.

Preventing Ice On The Windshield

Scraping off your windshield in the winter can be a royal pain in the butt. If you don't have a garage, you probably dread getting out in the morning and scraping off the ice until you can see through the windshield properly. If you have a garage, well then this article isn't meant for you! Below are some techniques you should consider when you want to prevent ice from getting on your windshield.

Use a special mixture

I did some research online and found that there are some great techniques you can use with common household items. One of the common recipes I've come across was using 3 parts of vinegar to 1 part of water and simply place it in a spray bottle. Every night before you go in for the night, make sure that you spray all of the windshields with this mixture.

Vinegar will prevent the ice from forming on your windshield. Also remember that you should spray your side passenger windows as well. If you don't have access to vinegar, you can also use rubbing alcohol as well. All of these items generally run a few dollars at your local grocery store.

Provide a barrier

If you don't like the idea of spraying vinegar and water on your windshield, you can grab an item such as cardboard and spread it across your windshield. The key to this is to make sure that the cardboard is tucked in both the passenger and driver side doors.

In the morning when the ice and snow is on top of your car windshield, simply pull the cardboard off and use your defroster to take away any frost that you have on your windshield. The best place to find cardboard is to either go to a local grocery store to grab some empty boxes they've used or grab some at a local storage place for a small fee.

The two tips are the ones you'll find all over the place when you do research on the net. The best thing to do when researching is to stay away from scummy items that say that it'll prevent ice on your windshield. Most of the times, this spray will be somewhat similar to the vinegar and water. The best thing to do to not only save money and your time is to simply create it yourself.

If the ways above are ways you are uncomfortable with, there really aren't that many more ideas out there that can prevent ice itself. Some auto companies have tried to come out with windshields that were heated along with windshield wipers. This concept hasn't taken off as of late but you can look up patents online to see exactly what it's all about. If you hate the ice, you can simply move or build a garage if you're that upset about it or you can simply live with it or take actions with the methods above. Who knows, you may have an idea that can save millions the hassle of scraping off ice on their windshield.
